Trained in a variety of fine arts media Jeni GrayRoberts now works predominantly in kiln-formed glass.
Her early work in silversmithing and oil painting appeared in boutique art galleries in Houston and juried art shows in New York City.
Jeni first discovered glass fusing with The Craft Students League of New York City in 2003. Holding her first fused piece she realized she had found what she never knew she was looking for, a tactile metamorphosis, a dichotomy of materials, strong yet fragile. In glass, she found a reflection of herself.
Jeni’s work in glass evokes the movement of light, air and water. She is inspired by all of the natural world but especially by moving water. Her work is a reflection of the ebb and flow of the rivers and oceans she has sailed, canoed, kayaked and simply cherished, throughout her life.
Jeni enjoys experimenting and taking risks with the properties of glass and always welcomes questions from her students and helping them awaken and explore their creative side.
